I have been involved in wedding planning for more than 15 years now. I love it! I love everything about it! I bought Boscundle Manor because I could imagine it as the perfect wedding venue for intimate, exclusive use weddings and I would love the chance to hear about your ideas for your perfect day. At Boscundle Manor we cater for weddings from 2 (and we can be the witnesses!) right up to 150, small events for just the day, right through to fabulous 3 day exclusive use events over a bank holiday weekend. For up to 45 guests, we offer an intimate dining experience in our lovely dining room and for up to 105 banqueting style in a fabulous marquee from our marquee partners, Absolute Canvas. As we don't have a large function room, we are not the ideal venue if you are thinking of 200 or more guests, but could be ideal for most other weddings especially if you think that you like the idea of exclusive use, it really is the way to go and we even have a few ideas about how you can still get exclusive use without blowing the budget.

Exclusive use!
If you are able to find a venue like Boscundle Manor that offers exclusive use for your wedding, then my advice is to look closer. What better than to catch up with old friends and your nearest and dearest in a relaxed setting the night before your wedding, whilst sipping a glass of wine and eating great food at an ice breaker dinner.
Boscundle quickly becomes your very own ‘home from home’ and the staff have just one focus (well 3, actually) – you, your family and your guests. There tends to be fewer rules too, as there are no other “guests” to disturb and often the bar can stay open late as you are all residents.
You are probably thinking “this must cost a packet” but there are ways and means of making exclusive use and a tight budget work. Obviously, if funds allow, then the wedding party can pay for all the rooms but this may simply not be possible, so how about paying for your guest’s rooms for the night before and let them pay for their own rooms on the wedding night, thus halving the exclusive use charge or alternatively subsidise the room rate so that you pay a proportion and your guests pay a lower rate. The ultimate cost saver of course, is to have all your guests pay for their own rooms and, believe me, it happens more than you would think!
As Boscundle Manor is quite small, with just 14 rooms, you will be surprised how quickly you will be able to ‘allocate’ all the rooms once you have ticked off 2 lots of parents and grandparents, a sprinkling of brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts and cousins, a few bridesmaids and some close friends and, of course, yourselves. And guests travelling any sort of distance are going to need somewhere to stay anyway!
And picture this, a fun communal breakfast the following morning, full of cheering and clapping friends and family and not being embarrassed in front of strangers as you enter the breakfast room. A great end to a fabulous, exclusive use, wedding!
Food
The chefs at Boscundle Manor are able to put together just about any selection of food to compliment your day. Not unique, but quite unusual, is our ability to offer you and your guests a choice of food, typically three starters, main courses and desserts as well as vegetarian and other special dietary requirements.
All year Round
It is undeniable that Boscundle Manor is lovely in the summer time, but it also has a very special feel in the winter months and around Christmas. With its cosy sized rooms, real log fire and comfy furniture Boscundle is suitable for weddings at any time of the year. Even marquee weddings have taken place in December with suitable heating systems installed in the marquee.
Ask about special discounts for mid week weddings and really special discounts for weddings in November or January. At these times of the year, we are (to be brutally honest) quiet and would love to help you get your perfect day on a reasonable budget. You never know, the weather might just be kind as well.
Civil Ceremonies
Boscundle Manor has 3 locations within the manor house that are licensed
for civil ceremonies as well as one outside location in our thatched gazebo on the croquet lawn. Most ceremies take place in our lounge where
we are able to seat up to 60 guests for the ceremony or up to 80 guests, with approximately 30 sitting and 50 standing. The dining room can hold a similar number and the conservatory up to just 20 people. For the gazebo, we have an optional 8m x 16m tent that we can erect over the seating area and are able to sit up to 120 guests for the ceremony.
Marquees
For small parties of up to 44 guests, receptions can take place in
our dining room, however we are able to accommodate up to 90 people
in a fabulous marquee, which can be attached directly to our dining
room. We erect the marquee on a purpose made terrace just outside the dining room and attach it directly to the front side of the house. The marquees have a solid floor, carpet to suit your colour scheme and are fully lined and lit. Optional exterior lighting is available to illuminate all the grounds in a range of colours as well as a powerful heating system so you can even have a marquee wedding in the winter!
And the result - all the splendour of a marquee style reception with out the two biggest drawbacks; no wet grass to walk across and no portaloos!
How Much Does it all Cost?
This is one of the most commonly asked questions but is almost impossible to answer in one line. Every wedding that takes place here at Boscundle is different from the last but they are quite often made up from a different mix of elements that can be individually priced and we have gathered some of these together in a guide price list. The very best thing to do is call Sharon and have a chat through your ideas and dreams and maybe make an appointment to have a good look around Boscundle Manor.

Rachel and Charles – December 2009 First of all please accept my apologies for the delay in contacting you however I’m sure you can imagine how hectic life has been since our “big day” on the 5th December, followed by honeymoon and what turned in to a very busy Christmas!! I have wanted to write this email for some time but didn’t want to rush as I wouldn’t have been able to do justice to what was such an AMAZING weekend.
We knew within seconds of visiting Boscundle Manor back in January 08 that this was the place we wanted to get married- it wowed us from the outset, but I really have to say that the wow got even bigger during the weekend of our wedding-it was stupendous and we loved every single second of it.
The food was spectacular- from the delicious little canapés to the fabulous wedding breakfast…right the way through to Sunday mornings much needed “full English” it was all to die for- as you know from the length of time we spent deliberating over the menu with you, the food was always going to be a hugely important part of our day, and I have to say it surpassed our expectations, and many of our guests professed it to be one of the nicest meals that they have ever had. The assiette of chocolate was a particular hit, especially with our bridesmaid Evie, who actually has NO limit when it come to the quantity of chocolate, only the quality, and polished of her own assiette along with her dad’s profiteroles and 3 extra “shots” of white chocolate mousse….high praise indeed!!
The attention to detail was wonderful, and we, along with our guests were wowed by the beautiful rooms and warm welcome we received, and we would challenge anyone to find better in the whole of Cornwall- EVERYONE commented that they have never been to a wedding and felt so relaxed in the venue- and many felt as though they had gone to visit old friends rather than staying in a hotel.
I would like to say a big thank you in particular to Ian who was so kind and helpful- he was a big hit with all the guests and I think a credit to Boscundle Manor as there was just nothing that he didn’t do- from arranging go-karting for the boys on the morning of the wedding, to persuading my dad that it wasn’t a stupid idea and of course no one would get hurt (!) he is a treasure.
My last and final thank you is to you and David, who made the weekend go with a swing, and in the style we had always hoped for. And a personal note of thanks Sharon for doing such a spectacular job of decorating the dining room for our ceremony- I know that it was out of the norm, but it was perfect, and the fireplace was stunning – I can’t wait to see the photos of it now!

Since we have returned from honeymoon we have seen many of our guests or chatted to them on the phone. The verdict is unanimous, that the venue was stunning, the food was delicious and the music, courtesy of Best Served Chilled, fantastic. The comments have included "the best steak I have ever tasted"!
Most of all, our guests commented on the warm and friendly reception that they recieved from the staff. People were genuinly appreciative of how helpful and approachable everyone at Boscundle Manor was on the day and the sense they had of family business managed with the utmost professionalism. Our own experience mirrors these comments. I was so grateful to Vicky who did the make up for some of the ladies and my wedding make up. I think my sister in law loved having her make up done as did my mother. Special Thanks also goes to Ian who went out of his way to help everyone, while also doing a million and one other tasks, always with a smile on his face. His beyond the call of duty act at 2am was to take some of our guests back to their hotel in the early hours of the morning, when a taxi driver couldn't be found.
Personally, you made my dreams come true and I will always be grateful to you for that. The day after Leighton and I were engaged I was idly looking for a venue in cornwall, and your hotel popped up on our screen. I just knew it was everything I was looking for and more besides and you were consistent throughout the process in making the dream a reality. You certainly have a most beautiful house and provide your guest with every facility during their stay. Nothing was too much trouble and they performed their duties throughout the long weekend with charm and good humour. We do feel that a special mention must be made of your chef. From the delicious chocolate cake on arrival to the Friday evening buffet, from the wedding meal to the final breakfast, he produced the most superb range of delicious food. As a farmer from the Boarders I thought I had already tasted the tenderest beef locally; however I think the memory of your Cornish beef will live with me for a long time. I will also dream about the wonderful cheese I tasted on the Saturday evening.
Sharon, your sensitive artistry with the floral decorations throughout the hotel was magnificent and all the blooms still looked so fresh on Sunday morning. The bouquets and buttonholes were delightful and the table decorations quite stunning. You are so skilled and inventive in the way you arrange your original displays and this certainly added to the special celebratory atmosphere. Thank you so much for your attention to detail and also the floral care you provided.
I think we will all remember last weekend in our own special way and it was all made possible by you and your wonderful team. Once again I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to you and all for making Rebecca and Jonathon’s wedding an occasion we will never forget.

also said that their honeymoon suite was delightful. We cannot fault

It's now a week since we shared Laura and Richard's wedding celebrations
at Boscundle Manor and we are just coming back down to earth after
the experience! We have never experienced such hospitality and attention
given in such a relaxed way before. The wedding arrangements were

We cannot begin to put into words how grateful we are for all the
hard work and effort you put into making our wedding day truly amazing.
We always knew that having our wedding at Boscundle Manor was going
to mean it was going to be something really special but i don't
think either of us knew just how special. Our wedding day was perfect.
We couldn't have picked a better venue-the marquee looked stunning
and the flowers wow! It fulfilled all of my dreams and more. Everyone
is still talking about the food, the fantastic location and how
it was the best wedding they had ever been to. You really did go
out of your way to make the whole day run like clockwork. My only
regret is that we can't do it all again! But if we did we wouldn't
change a single thing. It was amazing and truly the best day of

The welcome was so warm, we immediately felt at home. All the staff
